The Jeff Fortuna Outstanding Lecturer Award was established to recognize a part-time faculty member who demonstrates excellence in teaching, student engagement, research, and service to the community. Jeff Fortuna retired from CSUF in late 2013, after completed 41 years in teaching with 28 of those years at CSUF. He taught just over 400 sections during his career at CSUF - with at least 16,000 students in his classes. On evaluations, students described him as enthusiast, engaging, and funny. In addition to being admired by his students, he inspired his fellow faculty through his teaching and research, which focused on the Treatment and Prevention of Drug Dependence.
