The Business Honors program is for the top 1% of students in the College of Business and Economics. These students are most likely to become successful and thus build a strong reputation for our college in the local community. However, this exceptional group is often coming from underprivileged backgrounds and need to work part-time to support their families and their studies. This reduces the time they can devote to studying and excelling academically which constrains their capacity to reach their full potential. The funds raised will provide scholarships for the meritorious and needy students so that they can better focus on exploiting their unique potential and raise the reputation of our college.
Funding can be used for two purposes:
The amount for scholarships could be distributed as a function of need and performance. Underprivileged students are the ones with a higher risk of dropping the program. By providing financial support, this will result in higher retention and performance of those students, making them more likely to find prestigious jobs which will lead to contributing to the image of the university.
The distribution of funds as a function of performance will offer a recognition of their hard work and efforts. Funds to support the activities of the program will be used to increase the quality of the experiences offered in our events. More budget for the events will allow higher participation, more engagement, stronger attachment, and, as a consequence, higher retention and improved performance of our students.
We greatly appreciate any amount of donation that will support our Business Honors Students!
