WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
With over 4,000 graduates, our School of Nursing has been advancing nursing education in Southern California for more than forty years. With nationally recognized programs, our students receive the highest level of education and go on to provide world-class nursing care to the community.
Essential to our students' success is recognizing their financial hardships. Many of our nursing students are first-generation college students and struggle with the cost of schooling, especially now with the pandemic. Gifts to support scholarships in the School of Nursing will ease the financial burden students face and allow them to focus on their education.
Please consider contributing to the School of Nursing's scholarship fund so that we may continue to provide our nursing students with vital scholarships. Whether it is a donation of $10, $25, $50 or even a stretch gift of $100 every little bit helps.
YOUR IMPACT!
Your gift allows our Titans to place their studies at the forefront and achieve their goal of obtaining a degree in nursing science and give back to the communities they serve.
Nursing student Roxanne Aguirre (left) is more determined than ever to become a nurse, after losing her grandmother (right), Julia Ortiz, to COVID-19. “As nurses, and even certified nursing assistants, it is important for us to empathize and have compassion for patients who can’t have family with them” states Aguirre. “During those 12 hours that I care for them, I am their family. These patients are scared and oftentimes confused. I hold their hands, talk to them and try to make them feel as comfortable as possible.”
SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING
Over the past year, thanks to generous contributions, we’ve been able to create a new scholarship fund to benefit students based on the impact giving has had in their lives. This year, we look to further enhance scholarship funding and support students like the ones below.
“I face several financial barriers as a first-generation college student living away from my home in Northern California. I’ve had to work as a server throughout college to make ends meet. Due to the pandemic, this stream of income can no longer be relied on. In a similar vein, my parents, who also work in a restaurant, were affected financially and could not provide as much financial support. I am immensely grateful for the #TITANSGIVE scholarship support as it helped me secure my financial future and cut back on the hours I had to work during nursing school.” -School of Nursing Scholarship Recipient
“Going back to school later in life has its financial stresses. In order to go back to school, I had to take out student loans. At this time in my life that was difficult to comprehend. With my husband out of work during the pandemic, the addition of debt was not an easy decision, but I believe worth it in the end. Thank you for this scholarship! This relieves financial stress on our family and lets me stay in school.” -School of Nursing Scholarship Recipient
“I give to others by being intentional in getting to know them, encouraging them in their stage of life, therapeutically listening and communicating with each member of the group about their concerns and difficulties, and just helping them in any way that I can. I give to make a difference in other people’s lives, but it makes a huge difference in my life as well. As I established my pattern of giving, I began to be more grateful towards the people who pour their time and efforts into me. The mentors, friends, family, and healthcare professionals who have helped me throughout my life serve as my constant motivation to give to others. I am reminded of their sincerity, kindness, and generosity every day and I want to thank them by giving to others the same way they gave to me and influenced my life for the better and lest me stay on my nursing journey.” -School of Nursing Scholarship Recipient
