Community Goal: Provide essential skills to people experiencing homelessness to enable them to secure and maintain gainful employment.
Institutional Goal: Develop and apply interdisciplinary evidence-based interventions to reduce homelessness in Orange County while building partnerships with the community.
CSUF has approximately 150 students who are classified as homeless and are living out of their cars.
The Titan Workforce Action Lab focuses on workforce development to address underlying issues contributing to homelessness for these students and the greater community. We leverage the passion of CSUF students while implementing best practices to provide standardized workforce training modules to those experiencing homelessness. The Titan Workforce Action Lab visits various homeless shelters to provide workshops and one-on-one coaching to residents. The workshops focus on crafting a resume, applying for jobs, and interview skills, as well as budgeting and saving. The program has helped residents at several local shelters improve their economic situation by gaining employment and saving enough to move into more permanent housing.
