The Center for Careers in Teaching (CCT) provides critical information on the teacher pathways in California, as well as meaningful interactions between future teachers in order to create an impactful community of practice for any student interested in a career in education. These efforts are in support of the College of Education's priority of facilitating a just, equitable and inclusive education (JEIE) by making community-based knowledge an integral component of curricular and pedagogical development. Students who utilize the CCT resources will be a part of a supportive community and obtain the resources, knowledge and skills they need to feel abundantly prepared to enter our teaching credential program and, ultimately, the teaching profession.
Cal State Fullerton does not offer a major in Education and the College of Education does not house any undergraduate majors, thus future teachers can be difficult to identify making early interventions difficult. Once identified and connected to resources for future teachers provided by the Center for Careers in Teaching, these undergraduates often share the urgent need for 1) more direct access to pertinent information about teaching pathways and requirements in California and 2) robust engagement with a community of future teacher peers in order to be successful and persist through a teacher preparation program and subsequently into the teaching profession.
Funds raised will provide future teachers with resources such as scholarships, test preparation resources, academic and career advising, and professional development opportunities.
