The National Resource Center for Asian Languages (NRCAL) was designed to improve the nation’s capacity for the teaching and learning of Asian languages including Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Khmer. CSUF has made a strong commitment to supporting less commonly taught languages, serving diverse student populations, expanding research on second language acquisition, and enhancing early childhood literacy. During NRCAL’s 2017 and 2019 Vietnamese Children Book Writing Contests, community partners came together to support children’s literacy and celebrate winners of the contest. Partners included judges from various media and newspaper companies, and community language schools.
By donating to NRCAL’s community literacy project, you will directly contribute to resources for teachers and students of less commonly taught languages. Help us illustrate and publish selected stories of the 2019 Vietnamese Children’s Book Writing Contest! These include twelve story books written by children 7-18 years old on topics related to their lives in America. Twelve children await your contribution to make this project a reality.
